Dr. Austin Mills
Let’s be honest—nutrition is confusing! Between the old guidelines and the new guidelines and all the information we hear on social media platforms… Nobody seems to agree on anything, and it’s difficult to know what advice to follow: Should I eat Paleo? Keto? Carnivore? Vegetarian? Well, I was confused too. That’s why i created this website. For simple, easy to understand, science-based nutrition information.
Full disclosure—nutrition is tricky in part because it is never a one-size-fits-all approach. Some diets work for some individuals, different diets work for others. And that’s okay! A lot of nutrition is understanding the basics, then tailoring that foundation for your own personal preferences, goals, and resources. I won’t tell you what to do, but I will explain the science behind it and give you the guidelines for your own personal health and success. (Should you be willing to put in the work necessary to achieve it!)
So, what gives me the qualifications to write about nutrition? Or, more precisely, why should you follow the advice on this website, out of all of them?? Well, I—Austin Mills, website founder—earned my PhD in nutrition from the University of Georgia, where I worked in a Nutritional Neuroscience Lab to understand how what we eat impacts brain function, and how different molecules in the brain help us to regulate what we eat. This education provided the foundational basis for me to understand, and explain to you, how nutrition is actually working within the brain and body. Moreover, I desire to bring nutrition information to the public in a way that is UNDERSTANDABLE! Goodbye to those big words you can’t pronounce, and to that scientific diatribe that reads like an Ikea instruction manual. My goal is to explain nutrition concepts clearly yet concisely, so that you can use this information in your everyday life.
So let’s learn a thing or two about nutrition, and have fun doing it! Because to fuel your body and your brain is to provide a solid foundation for all other things in life.
